EASTERN MARKETS
WELCOME OPPORTUNITIES
(By Telegraph.)
(Special to the 'tveninp Post.") DUNEDIN, This Day. General satisfaction with the announcement that arrangements have been completes for the establishment of a direct shipping service between New Zealand and Japan, and that Dunedin will be one of the ports of call, was expressed by business men, the consensus of opinion being that the service would present welcome opportunities to New Zealand exporters to see that they had their fair share with Australia of trade with the East. I am naturally very pleased with the announcement that a direct service is to be insittuted," said Mr. J. C. Shand, who on a recent visit to the East negotiated to send products to friends in Japan. The new service will mean the opening of the way for the shipping of primary products from New Zealand to Japan." Mr. John C. Begg, president of the Chamber of Commerce, said that a considerable amount of wool was exported to Japan and it was to be hoped the new shipping venture would be justified by results.
