FLOOD DANGER PASSED

(British Official Wireless.)

(Received February 8, noon.) RUGBY, February 7. During the hejght of a north-easterly gale yesterday, which coincided with high tide in the Thames estuary, and at the early morning tide today, a close watch was kept on the river banks, which were submerged in many, places near Southend. At ■ Gray's and at Rotherhithe also some flooding took place. When the danger had passed, official records showed that, generally speaking, the water had been three feet above high-tide level, but did not reach what was regarded by the police as a general danger mark.
