The War Memorial Carillon tower is on the left, and the Wellington Citizens' War Memorial on the right. The sketch below the photograph shows the side elevation of the Mount Cook Group of National Buildings now under construction, and the Carillon tower. The buildings are now well advanced, but are not visible in the photograph, being hidden behind the temporary buildings of which a small part can be seen. The buildings will comprise the Dominion Museum and the National Art Gallery. At the foot of the Carillon Tower, and to the rear of it, the sketch shows the Hall of Memories, temporarily omitted from the construction.
