PENWOMEN'S FAREWELL

LYCEUM CLUB PARTY

The Penwomen's Circle of the Lyceum Club met together yesterday afternoon to bid farewell to Mrs. A D. Kerr, M.A., who is leaving Wellington to take up her residence in Cnnstchurch. The function was one of several that will be held in her honour before going south. Mrs. Kerr has been a valued member of the Lyceum for many years, and has been associated with every side of the club's activities; but it is with the penwomen where her valuable help has been so highly appreciated. As editress of the magazine, she has worked with zeal to keep the contents up to standard, and it is in this direction where she will be greatly missed. Mrs. Norwood, president of the! club, in a happy speech, touched upon the optimism which was the characteristic note of Mrs. Kerr's writings, and said, if all scribes would adopt the same optimistic outlook, New Zealand would very soon be a prosperous country once more. In presenting Mrs. Kerr with a book—the gift of the penwomen, suitably inscribed and autographed by members of the circle Mrs. Norwood said she hoped it would serve to remind her of the many pleaEa ™ ho? IS they bad spent together. Mrs. Kerr thanked the members of the circle for the kindly thoughts expressed and for the treasure they had given her. She hoped to visit them on occasion as suitable opportunity offered. Afternoon tea .was served bringing to a close a very happy party
