TEAS FOR BRIDE-TO-BE
Mrs-. Gamble and Miss-Myra Post were hostesses at a very enjoyable party tea" held at- Mrs.■'.. Gamble's home, Lower Hutt, on Wednesday afternoon. The party was given in honour of Miss Valmai Kelly, whose wedding takes'place next Tuesday. A competition to guess advertisements was won by Miss Nola Cable. Afternoon tea was served in the diningroom, which was decorated with calla lilies, after which Miss Kelly opened her many useful presents in the draw-ing-room, which was gay with phlox and blue hydrangeas. Mrs. Gamble was in cream, and Miss Post in white, while Miss Kelly wore a red and white striped frock and'white hat; ' •" Among those present were Mrs. T. Low, Miss Pauline Jeffreys (Christchurch), Miss.D. Stewart, Miss Zena Holden, Miss Nancy Luke, Miss Eila Chapman, Miss Erna Porter, Miss Muriel Sutcliffe, and Miss Nancy Beere. Mrs. H. Longuet was hostess at her home in Salamanca Road at a "bathroom tea" for Miss Kelly, who wore a smart floral frock in shades of fawn and brown, with brown taffeta coat and brown taffeta marina hat. Mrs. Longuet, who looked charming in a red marocain frock trimmed with ■ beige lace, presented Miss Kelly with a shoulder spray of apricot roses. The J drawing-room was bright with tiger lilies, gladioli, and blue hydrangeas, and so was the dining-room, where afternoon tea was served. Those present included the Misses Pauline Jeffreys, Lola Kelly, Patricia and Joan Ryan, Nellie Kidd, Marjory Anscombe, Paddy Hope-Gibbons, and M. Shepherd.
