MILK SHORTAGE

SERIOUS IN CANTERBURY

EFFECT"OF DROUGHT

(By Telegraph.—rress Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Owing to falling yields, there is a serious shortage of milk in Canterbury. Milk supplies to dairy companies and distributors have dropped at least 15 per cent, during January and are still falling. . If the dry weather continues it is predicted that the yields will be fully 30 per cent, below the normal by the end of February. So far nothing has been done to meet the emergency, and no suggestion has been made that milk shall be rationed as is proposed in Auckland. . '
