A STORMY TRIP
GISBORNE TO PALMERSTON
(Special to the " Evening Post.")
j PALMERSTON N., This Day. Yesterday the Manawatu apparently received only the edge of a storm which raged with full force in the Poverty Bay area. Mr. V. Crichton, Manawatu Automobile Association's officer, who came through from Gisborne v reports that motoring was an unenviable experience right down to Napier. There were small washouts and boulders along the road and minor slips from the hillsides. Watercourses were running high, and 'in one place, a telegraph pole had been blown half down across the road. Rain was falling as far down as Woodville..
Palmerston North experienced a heavy ( easterly wind which played havoc in orchards, but little in the way of rain fell till about midnight.
