FAREWELL TO FIJI
DUKE SAILS FOR SAMOA:
VISIT MUCH ENJOYED
SUVA, February 5.
Yesterday. the Duke of Gloucester visited the island of Beqa, 20 miles south of Suva, where a fire-walking ceremony was performed in his honour, and greatly impressed the Royal visitor. Later in 'the day he took part in a fish drive, and was so interested that he jumped overboard from the whale- ' boat and assisted in hauling in the net in which were over lOO.fish. Last night there was a dance in the Town Hall for petty officers and men of HUVLA.S. Australia, while the Duke attended a private dance at Government House.
; This-morning the Duke and party left in :H.M.A.S.: Australia for Apia, and among those on the wharf to bid him farewell where the Governor' (Sir,:Murchison Fletcher), the Mayor, the> Hon. Alport Barker, and: officials. The guard of honour : comprised. European, Fijian, and, Indian troops and constabulary.:" ; ■■;, ■;
