AN AUCKLAND RECEPTION
i Lord, andvLady.. Baden-Powell, ,who arrived in' Auckland on-Monday,-had a cordial reception from Guides and Guiders, 'Scoutst 'and masters. With their 'two "daughters, the Hon. Betty and the-' Hon. Heather Baden-Powell, they ~have, done most extensive, travelling mostly-in the interests of the two great associations which , they have inspired throughout the world. After the visits to the European countries last year, they travelled to Australia by way of Suez and the East Indies,' and visited each of the principal capitals except Perth. -When leaving this country;"-six ■ weeks hence, they will undertake a. tour of Canada. After arriving ■ Home, Eady,, Baden-Powell will leave for ,Sweden within a few days, and from thence to South Africa. She remarked "that she has become used to, almost. continuous travel, ■ and is deeply interested' in forwarding the movements. There were fine gatherings in Australia, about'sooo at Frankston, Melbourne, 200.0 coming from various parts of the ' Commonwealth. The guide, work at Thursday Island was very interesting, and- also at the Torres Straits -islands. The South Australian Government thinks so well of the movement that it has given an old school ffor a, training, centre, and as the Chief Guide .was asked to give if 4 iiiame,' ishe called' it "Paxlease," a combination of Foxlease and Pax Hill, their own home. VISIT TO OTIMAI. There was a gathering of about 35 commissioners, 'guiders, and executive members at Otimai to greet the Chief Guide and Chief Scout on Monday afternoon. Miss R. Herrick' (New Zealand Commissioner) came' with the party, and a tour was made of the house and grounds ': of the training centre;
