WEEKEND ACCIDENTS
AMBULANCE BUSY
Trips to Paraparaumu, Wainui-o-mata,' and Mangaroa, ' with numerous city calls in between,' ■ kept the Free Ambulance men busy yesterday and on Saturday evening., The injured persons in all the under-mentioned cases were taken by, the ambulance to "hospital. - A garage proprietor, R. L. Christie, who resides at the Clyde Quay Hotel, suffered seye"r<r head -injuries when the motor-car in which he "was travelling hit a bank at Mangaroa last evening. After receiving. medical attention'he was taken to a private" hospital. Two miles north of Paraparaumu, W. Bowe, a' mechanic, of 23 Rhodes Street, fell off a motor-cycle which was being towed yesterday afternoon, and injured his left leg. .While wrestling on Lyall Bay beach yesterday afternoon, H. E. Sayers, of 2 Hungerford Road, was thrown heavily on to his shoulder, and his left collarbone was broken:
R. Stevenson, a farm hand, of Wainui-o-mata, suffered severe burns to his left leg when a motor-cycle caught fire a little after midday yesterday. The accident occurred at Wainui-o-mata.
Through striking the bottom in a dive off a springboard at Worser Bay on Saturday evening, T. Rigg, aged 15, of 82 Totara Road, suffered concussion.
J. Proebestel, of 79-Pirie Street, received abrasions to his left cheek and slight concussion in a collision between a motor-cycle and a bicycle at the corner ,of Kent, Terrace., and Pirie Street on Saturday evening.
While competing in a jumping event at the athletic sports at Petone, on Saturday afternoon, R. N. Siinnex; a bookbinder, of 5 Alpha Street, injured his left ankle. Before being taken to hospital he received attention from St. John Ambulance' Brigade members.
