TOUR OF SOUTH AFRICA
Matters in connection with the tour of South Africa next season by an Australian cricket team were dealt with at the recent meeting of the Australian Board of Control, which approved of the programme submitted for the tour. South Africa is to pay all expenses of the tour. Apart from' travelling and hotel allowances, each player and the manager will receive a bonus of £.300. The team, which will comprise 14 players, will be chosen by the selectors, Messrs. E. A. Dwyer, W. Johnson, and V. Y. Eichardson, in the last week in April. A sub-committee to act for the board in approving of the players selected will comprise Messrs. Oxlade (N.S.W.). Hutcheon (Q.), Middleton (S.A.), and Dr. Robertson (Vie), and another sub-committee is to,prepare an agreement between the board and the players. The players will undergo a medical examination in the last week in August. The board, at its next meeting, to be held at Melbourne in September, will appoint the captain, vicecaptain, and selection committee, and will also select, the manager Applications for- the position of manager will be invited from representatives of State associations, and are to be lodged by August 15.The team will sail in October, and its programme is as follows:— November 23, 25, 26.—First match, v. Natal, at Durban; leave Durban for Cape Town 5.40 p.m., arrive Cape Town 2.18 p.m. November 30, December 2. 3.—-"v. Western Province, at Cape Town (the Tuesday game to finish at 5.30 p.m.); leave Cape Town for Johannesburg 6.25 p.m. December 5, arrive Johannesburg 7.30 a.m. •December 7, 9, 10.—v.
