TO MAKE TRENTHAM TRIP
(Special from "Limited.") HAAVEIiA, This Day. Hawera stables will be represented at three ruciny fixtures on Luboui' Day. Flower Bag and Cynical Kiel are to run at the Waikato Hunt Club's .Meeting, Aga Khun and Diagaito are booked for Trent-1 ham, and over twenty huus&> are to compete at AVuvcrley. Xo hoi«u on the Ilawora tracks has amide such, remarkable improvement tinee being put into regular work as the six-year-old Cynic—LadycNapper gelding Cynical Kid. With size, breeding, and jumping abilities to recommend him, Cynical Kid looks an attractive prospect lor future jumping events. During this weekend he schooled a round of the hurdles at racing pace in a very satisfactory manner.
'!'. Fryer brought back with him from Otaki the four-year-old maiden Misfire, by Royal Shot from Misgovern, who was by King Mark from I'arula, by Birkenliead. Misfire has run promisingly and the change may bring about a change of luck. He is now owned by Mr. K. J. Stevenson, of- Otaki.
Taitbru is haying a day or two's ppell to freshen up for Waverley. Fryer's other pair, Colossal and Kaola, are in nice order for their engagements. Aga Khan is rapidly shaping up and will be in nice order for Trentham. In his last work-out with Diagano he easily held his companion off over five furlongs, finishing lengths in front.
The Tiger showed great brilliancy over the first two furlongs of a half-mile sprint, running his first two in 24sec and easing up to register ulscc for the full distance. Colossal, who tried to go with The Tiger, ran his three in 3S%sec. Silver Wings, who was responsible for the fastest three furlongs.sprint recorded on the Hawera tracks this season, covering the distance in 30sce dead, gave herself a knock during the gallop, and although it does not look serious it may interfere with her Wavcrley prospects. Dick Brough, through having so many young ones to. look after, was unable to make the journey north with I lower Bag. The latest addition to his team is a yearling filly by Colossus irom the Lhief Kuler—Rosie Desmond mare Just bo. Just So was a smart galloper and the youngster is an attractive-looking sort. Brough is having trouble with, the maiden Rose Ray, who, after doing « sharp sprint, again developed soreness. •Rose Kay's appearance at Waverley looks d°Mr t 'Vrank "Walker's hurdler Crennatown' is going smoothly in his work and showing improvement In a schooling bout with Benedictine he gave the beta exhibition and- may have' something to say in the settlement of the hurdle lace at' Waverley, where the opposition, bar Morrath, docs not appear strong. * Onewhctu. a maiden'by Sunstar from the Kilbroney mare Kilcoo, has developed
into a useful-looking horse and surprised l.y recently defeating Colossal in a gallop over half a mile in 51 2-ssce, time that compared favourably with anything done under similar conditions.
Green Linnet's form on the tracks so far hns been anything but impressive, and it looks as if her sprinting days are over. A roomy, shapely mare. Green Linnet looks a likely stud matron.
Silk Sox, who looks in nice racing trim, went attractively in a six-furlong gallop covered in linin lOscc, time that could have been bettered with a companion. He promises to run well next outing. Sandlark is a very proficient jumper over the schooling hurdles, but his respiratory troubles, which appear to be getting worse, will not enhance his prpspects. Tivo of ilint Leaf's progeny in New Form and a three-year-old from Red Gleam are being sent along .more seriously and are shaping satisfactorily. Both are still carrying plenty of condition and will require time. During .T. Brown's absence in Auckland Harvest Moon is being worked in the afternoons under C. Jackson's supervision. The big Acre gelding in doing well and should run prominently at Wnvcrlcy,'. St. Clara is working regularly and coming to hand steadily. The Orandcourt mare is a possibility for a hack cup this season. Since racing at Xew Plymouth, 0. Cox's maiden Kriesland has not been severely, tried, lint he' wins his gallops regularly and is becoming more solid.
Rich field is galloping and sprinting well, and he is haying a respite from the stiffness to which he has for a long time been subject. With a good boy up the old fellow might make a gallant show in the "Waverley Cup.
