. The Caulfield Meeting, with Caulfield Cup, will be concluded on Saturday.
There will be no further racing "in the Dominion till the AVeilington Meeting opens at Trentham on Saturday. Silver Ring, as a result of his win in the' Epsom Handicap, .was -allotted a 51b penalty for the Caulfield Cup, bringing his weight to 0.7, as against 0.6 he carried in the 'Randwick mile. race.
Acceptances for the Xow Zealand Cup and Stewards' Handicap, with forfeits for the Welcome Stakes, Derby, and Oaks, also nominations for the minor events, are due next Friday.
According to a Riecnrton report, Control is still at F. D. Jones's stable, but is not in work. His trainer, E. Parker, intends to blister him shortly, and turn him out on his owner's property for a few months.
It is reported that immediately after the Wellington Meeting C. W. France will join Mr. J. Clothier's stable at Matamata. ■
The three-year-old filly Eara by Diacquenod from Wake Up, has been leased by Mr. A. Alexander to Mr. D. Lupton, of Wavevley.
Mr. T. E. Coates. president of the Greymouth Jockey Club, has purchased the three-year-old colt Prince Warden, by Lord 'Warden from Firestiek, and intends to use him as a sire on the West Coast.
Sir Simper's' performance in winning the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield last Saturday, his fourth success on end. certainly gives the Dominion a strong claimant for Caulfielcl Cup honours next SaturCyclonic, who was accepted for both the' Wainui Handicap and the 'October Hack Handicap on the opening day at Trentham, will start in the October. Caliente. who has done some racing in Sydney during the last few weeks, returned to Auckland last week. She is a five-year-old by Polazel from Phar Lap's sister Fortune's Wheel, and she showed useful staying form in Auckland last season. The Monowai from Sydney yesterday brought back seven New Zealand horses that have been racing there recently. C. Emerson returned with Marcus Cicero and Hine Ha, and A. E. Ncale with Diatomous, and K. Simpson with Autopay; and F. 1). Junes sent back The Masquerader, Custodian, and Abdication. Tbo five Rieenrton horses went south on the Raugatira last night.
An interesting name claimed in theofficial list last week is Isaacs for a three-year-old chestnut colt by Lord AVardeu from the Kilbroney mare Rachacl, the dam also of Rabbi. Kozan. and Frimsel. Isaacs, like his relatives, wan bred by Mr. J. .7. Corry, and he will race in the colours .if Mr. J. F. D. Cony, a son of his breeder. Isaacs would be very popular with a certain fraternity if they operated here.
The- brood mare Azalea, by Chief P.nler from Bayloch, thus a sister to Bay Tree, has produced a colt foal to .Vightmarch. Azalea cost the late Mr. C!. 1). Greenwood 5."i0 guineas as a yearling, and won two races for him. She later became the property of P. V. Mason, who. after she raced disappointingly, retired her to the stud nt only six years of age.
J. Tomkinson's learn at'-Kit-carton now totals eight, a late addition being Mr. (Jcorge Gould's .Jericho gelding Fiat Lux. Others are Orecian Prince. Moonbeam. Emissary. Liberate (Polazel—Lightning Raid). Highbrow, a three-year-old goldmg by Pnlazol from Precious, and a Fhilainor -Helen Hunt two-year-old belonging to Mr. W. A. White.
