THE CAME IN WELLINGTON

A meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association was held last evening, there being present Mr. J. L. MaeDuff (chairman), Messrs. Ferkins, Cooper, JJonnell, Lander, I'inkcrton, Plank, Richards, Stirling, and Mantell-llarding (honorary secretary). Advice was received from the N.Z.L.T.A. that in response to requests from the Wellington and Canterbury Associations the question of sending a women's team from New Zealand to compete at the New South Wales championships had been reconsidered. However, it-was decided not to depart from the previous decision, and no women's team will be sent this yen.).1. Seating accommodation is to be arranged for 20U schoolchildren on each of the two days on which the exhibition matches are to "be played. An intimation was received'thiit the Governor-General and Lady lilcdisloe would be present at the matches. INTER-CLUB MATCHES. A record number of 91 entries has been received for the niter-club matches tobe played on the association's courts at Miramar. This is an additional twenty entries on last year's total. Some 42 courts will be used each Saturday, most of the matches being played on grass courts, which are reported as being in really tip-top condition. In the first division men's competition two entries have been received from each of the Wellington, University, and Thorndon Clubs .and one from each of Brougham Hill and Ncwtown. One team from Wellington, Lyall Bay, Brougham Hill, Thorndon, Ncwtown, and University had been entered in the women's first division. Entries in the men's second division are from Die Kliandallah, Wellington, Lyall Bay, University, Seatoun. Miramnr (2), and Technical College. There will be no competition in the women's second division. .Entries tin the other divisions are as follows:—Third division, men 21, women 14; fourth division, 17; fifth division, 12; sixth division, 8. The competitions will commence on Saturday, November 3, when matches will be played in the second division men's, third division men's, fourth A division, and sixth division. On November 10 the first men's and women's divisions, third division women, fourth B division, and fifth division will compete. Matches will continue until December 22, and recommence after the holidays on January 12. The first quarterly meeting of the council of the^ Wellington Association will be held on November 30.
