"THE HOPE OF YUGOSLAVIA"
United Tress Afsoclatiou—By Electric TcloI graph—Copyright. (Received October 15, 11 a.rn) BELGRADE, October 3.4, The Mayor of Belgrade offered the young King Peter the traditional Oriental gift of bread and salt. The Prime Minister was visibly moved by i the young King's dignified bearing! when he pronounced his official welcome: "The Government and people greet your Majesty and express unbounded and unshakeable devotion. They swear they will firmly stand behind your Majesty, our well-be-loved King, the hope of Yugoslavia, fulfilling the will of your immortal father, the unifier of Yugoslavia." At the Dedidje Palace Peter returned not to his playroom with cupboards filled with toys, but to | the State apartments which so far he has rarely visited. Despite the law that the Sovereign must reside \ in Yugoslavia, it is hoped to enable j Peter soon to return to school in Surrey, as it is feared that ihe constant atmosphere of official ceremony will interfere willi his upbnn<]rm<r.
