BOULTON RETAINS TITLE
The B grade championship time trial road race of the Ponclce Amateur Cycling Club was held on Saturday afternoon, and resulted in the title being retained by J. Boulton. The race started from the Kilbirnie Post Office, and the course was two circuits of the Breaker Bay cutting route.
Black was the first vider to leave the mark, followed by fourteen other riders at one-njinute intervals. At the end of the first lap 31. Thomason was leading Mather. Then came Barnsley, Puniti, and A. J. Percival in that order, with the rest of the field close up. In the last lap Boulton rode well, winning the championship by a margin of Imin 20 3-ssec. Details are as follows:—J. Boulton, GSmin 2sec, 1; M. Thomason, C9min 22 3-ssee, 2; J. Puuiti, GOmin 40sce, 3; J. Barnsley, 72min 39 4-5 see, 4.
A handicap held in conjunction with th* championship resulted as follows:—T. J. Mather (12min), 72min "7 l-ssec, 1; K. Barber (Omin), 73min 22 3-ssei\ 2; J. Puniti (4min). GOmin -lOsec, 3; J. Boulton (Imin), GSmiu 2sec, 4. The race for the Ericsson teams' shield is to be held on October 27 over a distance of 22 miles.
