DEPORTATION ORDER

MR. BENJAMIN SHASHOUA

(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, September 5. The Home Office, it is understood, has decided that Mr. Benjamin Jacob Shashoua must leave tho country. Mr. Shashoua is a native of Irak, and was born in Bagdad. Ho has boon a wellknown figure in London for years. In January, 1930, ho married Miss Joan Norton, against whom, early this year, ho brought an action in tho Chancery Division involving the sum of £55,000. Tho action was dismissed with costs, by consent.

Asked if ho could givo any possible reasons for the Home Office action, Mr. Shashoua said that some time ago he was in touch with tho authorities on certain personal matters.

"I believe thoro is a complaint against mo that I have had twenty-six law cases in tho twenty-seven years I have lived in England. I havo won oightoon of those cases. Another point which has been brought against mo is that I havo been fined on several occasions during the past ten years for such motoring offences as obstruction and leaving my motor-car in tho street too long. I have no associations with any other countries. England has been my only home."

According to the "Daily Express," the Home Offico decision follows an inquiry, which has no precedent, into the question whether Mr. Shashoua, should be permitted to remain here. A special aliens committee was appointed by Sir John Gilmour to conduct that investigation.
