The Minister of Lands (the. Hon. E. A. Hansom) who has been iv ill health, for some days, entered a private hOßpital at D.'iiinovirke today for treatment.
The Minister of . Employment (tho Hon. A. .Hamilton), who has been, absent from AVellington for some weeks on account of illness, returned 1o Wellington yesterday. . The Minister is much improved in health, but it will bo some little time yet before ho is able to resume his full duties as a member of Cabinet. It is his intention to retain the portfolios of Postmaster-General and Tourist and Health Hesorts, . but lie will not resume Employment and Labour until he is absolutely Jit again.
Mr. 11. IT. tie Costa ' (Gisborno), who has been visiting Wellington during (lie past few days, returned homo today.
Mr. J. Thorn, secretary of the New Zealand Labour Party, is on an organising visit in southern Hawke's Bay.
Mr. K. W. McLeod arrived today by tho Makura from San Francisco to take charge of the New Zealand business of Heinz, Ltd. lie has been in; London during tho past four years and will spend three years in New Zealand.
Mr. R. A. Tlsmar, of the British. Dominions Films, Ltd., Wellington, has been appointed manager' of the Palace Theatre, Palmerston. North.
Mr. C. M. Martii), accompanied by his wife and family, intends leaving for Australia tomorrow by the Monowai, instead of by the Makura as originally proposed, to tako up his appointment as secretary and chief inspector of the A.M.P. Society with headquarters in. SvcJney.
The funeral of the late Mr. A. Licbozeit took place yesterday at the Taita Cemetery, the cortege being ono of tho largest which has left Petone, Bepresentativcs of various organisations and sports bodies were present, as were also tho majority of Petone's business men. A- service was held in the Church of Christ conducted by Mr. B. Vickery, who also officiated at the graveside: Tho pall-bearers were members of tho Masonic Lodge, and the Masonic funeral service was read' by Mr. E. Tarrant, Grand MasterMr. J. McMillan and Mr. H. BurJington, both of Hastings, who. have been on an extended visit to Great Britain, Europe, and the United States, returned today by tho Makura from San Francisco. Mr. W. Townshend, a representative of the Cudahy Packing Company of Chicago, arrived today by the Makura from San Francisco on a business visit. Mr. W, Fair-weather, of Melbourne, accompanied by his wife and three daughters, is returning to Australia by Jtho Makura, which arrived today front San Francisco. He has been in California for the past four and a half years. Mr/ 0. AY. Ward, a member of tho South Australian Bowling Association, is a through passenger to Sydney by, the Makura, whicli arrived today from San Francisco. Ho has been on a visit to England and the United: States.
