FAREWELL TO MR. TAIT
The Rev. T. Tuit, M.A., 8.D., who has been occupying the pulpit of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, The Terrace, iras farewelled by the congregation during a Hocial hour at the close of the service lsist evening. There was a very large attendance.
. The Rev. fc\ 11. Wilkinson, Interim Moderator, paid a tribute to the manner in ■which, ill. Tait liad helped the congregation to tide over the period of the vacancy caused by the acceptance ol' a call to Melbourne by the Rev. K. J. Howie, and tbe choosing of a new -minister by tho congregation. .His own tusk a* Interim Moderator had been inside easier by Mr. Tait's able occupancy of the pulpit, aaid Mr. Wilkinson. Mr. N. H. G. MeFarl.-me {on belialf of the (session), Mrs. R. Feaiwon (on behalf of the ladies of the coiigresriition). and Mr. R. Hay (on behalf of the_ Board of Managers) spoke eulogist ieally of the high standard of Mr. Tail's addresses and (he spiritual value reaped from them by the congregation. Mr. Tait. in reply, acknowledged !he ivords of appreciation by the various speaker*, and referred to the congenial atmosphere he ha<l fell; at St. .Andrew"*. Miss Tait briefly spoke. Mr. Tait, accompanied by his daughter, ■will leave Wellington on Wednesday night, and after staying about, leu days in Christchurch, will proceed to 'Oiimani, where ha will occupy the pulpit of St. Paul's Church until the end of December. The llev. A. B. Kilroy. the newly-appointed minister of St. Andrew's*, will arrive from the south on Wednesday morning. The induction service will be held on Thursday evening, and a welcome social will be tendered to Mr. Kilroy by the congregation on October 23.
