MEDICAL FEES
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —The point that "Progress" does not seem to realise is that the spending power of the public has jeen seriously curtailed during the last few years, and that in many cases people who formerly could pay a doctor half a guinea a visit now find themselves unable to afford that fee. For the information of "Progress" I might say that I am in a business which includes a certain t amount of repair work, and whereas we used to charge 12c 6d and 7s 6d respectively" for certain jobs' today we do exactly the same jobs for 9s and 5s 6d. Medical fees on the contrary are the same as they were in the. boom times. "Progress" would probably find that if the charges were made more in keeping with conditions of today there would not be so many non-payers, and also the new doctor would more quickly become established.—l am, etc.,
