Tho Japanese Consulate has forwarded a copy of "The Secret of Japan's Trade Expansion," by Isoshi Asahi. The author, who remarks that lie is not blessed with that qualification which Talleyrand is said to have held as one most essential for a diplomatist—the ability to tell a good lie for one's country—sets out to combat the misrepresentation of Japan abroad and to prove that there is no justification whatever for the charge of unfair competition. Ho presents many facts and figures in support of his case, and several dozen photographs in the closing section of this little book givo visual evidence in support of the verbal defence.-
