NOTES
Swimmers of pre-war- days will regret the passing of Mr. A. Walling, one time an active competitor as a member of the Wellington Club. He was very popular with his fellow-members, and although not actively connected with . the sport in recent years, was still keenly interested in its welfare. The sympathy of the older brigade will go forth to the relatives of his family.
The Wellington Head Centre of the Royal Life-saving Society is experiencing difficulty in maintaining its activities, so much so that there is more than a possibility of its ceasing to function. Such action would be a detrimental step, and in order that the position can be avoided, the local officials are calling a special meeting on Monday evening next at the V.M.C.A., when all who have the welfare of the society at heart are invited to attend. ■
It is unlikely that Eiley, the Canterbury representative, who Has transferred to the North Island, will be playing in local senior cricket, as his business duties keep him on the move from place to place. i
