Mr. G. A. Buoklin, the new ConsulGeneral for the United States in New Zealand, paid an official call' on the Prime Minister (the Rt. .Hon. G. W. Forbes) and the Minister of Financo (the Et. Hon. J. G. Coates) today.

Mr. W. Drake, postmaster at Cambridge, will leave Wellington tonight for tho south to attend the jubilee celebrations of the Timaru Main School.

Dr.' Alexander Hodge, after being delayed for five weeks, in Curacao by tha illness of one of his children, arrived at Auckland by the. Tamaroa to assume the position of pastor pf the Auckland Baptist Tabornacle. His wife and three other children had arrived previously and woro present on the -wharf with ,a large group, of Auckland Baptists' to welcome him. Holding the degrees of 8.A., 8.D., and Ph.D. of London University, Dr. Hodge was trained at £ipurgeon College, London, and after a number of charges in England, recently was pastor of RUebrook Church, Leytoiistone. For seven years he was in chargo of the Bethesda Church, Sundei'laud, where he followed Dr. Graham Scroggie. He saw military service during the war in France, Italy, and Salonika, aud lias also studied in Germany..

Dr. H. F. McNickle and Mrs, McNickle left England by the Moldavia, expecting to connect with the Marama in Sydney and arrive at Auckland'on October 23. Dr. McNkklo is coining out to take up his appointment as resident surgical officer at the "Wellington Hospital. Since July, 1932, he has been, doing post-graduate work in England. He passed M.E.C.S., L.8.C.P., in April, 1933, and F.B.C.S. (Eng.) in the following month. His last appointment in England was Resident Surgical Officer at the Harlow Wood Orthopaedic Hospital. Mrs. McNickle was faraierly Miss Kathleen Bews, of Auckland. Their marriage took place at St. Barnabas',; Dulwich, in July, 1933.

Mr. Victor S. Lloyd left last evening for ,Botorua and Tauranga.

Colonel B. E. Grigor (Balclutha), Major T. G. Aoldand (Hororata), Major F. P. Symons (Ohristchurch), Mr. ap.& Mrs. A. G. Wallace (Wavei-ley), Messrs. J. E. Sutcliffe and J. S. Donovan (Auckland), and G. S. Jones (Christchureh)' are at the Grand Hotel.
