MISSING MAORI YOUTH

RANGITOTO TRAGEDY

TB KTJITI, This Day. _ There is no further development in collection with the Rangitoto tragedy. No sign has been found of the missing Maori.

The police havo started to make a thorough search of the surrounding country. The missing man, Heuare Hona, came from Hokianga, and is a member of a northern tribe. He came to the King Country three years ago, and for the past twelve months has been working for Major Westmacott, eleven miles from the Davenports' home.

A member of the police party, Constable Muir, when taking stores to the camp, had a narrow escape when a huge slip came down. The stores were taken over the hilltop and transferred to another car on the other side of the slip.

A preliminary inquest on Mr. and Mrs. Davenport and Albert Davenport was held yesterday, when evidence of identification was given. The inquest was adjourned, sine die. The funeral of the four victims took place yesterday afternoon, and was the largest ever seen in Te Kuiti,
