UNRAVELLING STORY

ASSASSIN IN FRANCE

SEARCH FOR ACCOMPLICES

PARIS, October 11,

Kalemen, the assassin, who was lynched by the crowd immediately after the murders, entered France on September 28 .with a false . passport, and since then frequently changed his name and address.

He took a room at a small hotel in Paris on or about October 3 under the name of Suk.. One of his friends was already staying at the hotel, and another visited him. These probably supplied him with money, because the day after his arrival Suk visited a store and bought himself a new suit and overcoat.

The scene then changes to a hotel at Aix-en-Provence, where a man arrived on October 7 and was joined that night by two others, one of whom, was Kalemen. All described themselves as brothers, avoiding signing the registration book.

Kalemen and a friend breakfasted in their room, on the morning of October 9, and afterwards drank a considerable quantity of alcohol, after which Kalemen departed for Marseilles. His companion returned to the hotel and paid the bill, after which the remaining two departed and have not been seen since. Kalemen left well armed and newly clothed with about £25 sterling in his pocket.

Two men have been arrested at Anncniaue, Haute Savoie. They are believed to have been Kalemen's accomplices. The police visited a small villa at Fontainebleau to search for another suspect. As they arrived a man rushed out firing a revolver and fled into the forest, which the police are now scouring. '
