ACCOMMODATION OF NURSES
(Special to the "Evening Pust.") NELSON, October 11. In order to provide more convenient accommodation for part of the nursing staff at present accommodated in the main hospital building, the Nelson Hospital Board decided to make application for authority to erect a new building to accommodate 25 nurses. It is proposed to erect the building fronting Kawai Street, the form of construction to match the present hospital and nurses' home. The board also decided to restore half the salary reductions to employees receiving up to £.200 per year. Dr. M. B. Snedden, who for the past two years has been resident house surgeon, submitted her resignation, which will take effect on November 6. The chairman expressed tjio board's regret. At the Nelson Eotary Club's weekly luncheon today a talk on the Centenary Air Bace was given by Mr. A. E. Kingsford. A vote of thanks was passed on the motion of Mr. A. McArtney. Visitors to the luncheon were Messrs. J. B. McKenzie (Christchurch) and K. A. Kers (Wellington). Mr. H. H. Johnson has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the board of managers of the Nelson Building Society, caused by the recent death of Mr. J. A. Stringer.
