SELF-HELP STORE CASE

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) ' ; •GHRISTCHUR-CH, October 11. Damages amounting.to £127 5s 6d, the full amount claimed, were awarded Walter George Hill, manager of the Self-Help store in Beckenhani, who proceeded against Trevor Lyall Evans ii> the Magistrate's Court today*. The facts had all been proved-.in recent criminal proceedings in the Supreme Court for assault, in which Evans was' fined £50.

On the night of August 8, Evans, wearing a mask, went to Hill's shop, called him to tho door, struck him blows on the head, finally breaking a bottle of kerosene over his head. Hill suffered severely from shock, and has not yet fully recovered.
