HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
At the last meet ins of the general committee of the Wellington Horticultural .Society, the president, Mrs. Knox Gilmer, referred to the loss sustained by the society through the death of Mrs. Gore, a life member' and one of its' foundation members,, as also of the Rose and Carnation Society. A vote of sympathy with the relatives was passed. ' ,-. It was'stated that over 50 new members had joined the society as the result of the recent circular. The president mentioned that the National Daffodil and Spring Show had been a record, both in entries ■and quality of the Competitive and special exhibits, and thanks were, extended to all who had assisted to .make the show an outstanding: success. The report on the show was adopted and accounts passed for payment. ■ Arrangements in connection with forthcoming circles, viz., rhododendrons and azaleas, irises and roses, were left to the president and secretary. It was mentioned fctmt the conditions governing the native garden competition were under consideration and that it was hoped to secure increased entries, which close at the end of the. month, for this season's competition.
