The Minister of Finance (Mr. E. N. Rhodes) on Thursday announced that interest . rates paid on savings deposits by nil, Canadian chartered banks, the Dominion Government Post Office Savings Banks, and the Province- of Ontario Government ■ Savings Office would be reduced from 2Vz per cent, to 2' per. cent., effective from November I. :
