AUSTRALIA V. WELLINGTON
One o£ the most interesting events of the local sporting calendar this year will take place in the Town Hall on Monday night when the touring Australian amateur boxers will meet Wellington representatives in a series of contests.- Each division from flyweight to heavyweight will be contested, involving eight bouts, each of four two-minute rounds. In addition there will be four bouts between' selected Wellington and Wairarapa amateurs, and the programme as a whole should make a great appeal to all who appreciate the clean and vigorous boxing which, amateurs can be relied ,upon to produce. Of particular interest will be the return to the ring in the capacity of referee of Mr. Earle ("Mick") Stewart, one of New Zealand's most popular boxing officials. The judges will be Mr. J. Martin, one of the party accompanying the Australians on their tour, and Mr. P. J. Woods. The teams will be as follows:— Australia.—Flyweight, H. Cooper; bantamweight. R. Gillam; featherweight, J Moore; lightweight, A. Taylor; welterweight, A. Warbrick; middleweight, J. Miles; light-heavyweight, W. Burns; Heavyweight, S. Inskip. New Zealand.—Flyweight, •L. Larsen; bantamweight, F. Finnegan; featherweight, W. Aitken; lightweight, L. Murray; welterweight, H. Plank ; middleweight, M. Spring (Wairarapa); light-heavyweight. Or. Holcroft; heavyweight, G. Lang (WairaTh Pose'who will be taking part in the supporting bouts will include D. Reynolds, N. Tanner. W. Hedberg, M. Wareham, H. Dunn, T. Corbin, and W. G. Paras.
