GAMING CONVICTION

BOTOBUA, June 21. As the result of a police raid upon a billiard saloon in Arawa Street on June 4, the proprietor, Eobert Allan Donald Gray, appeared today before Mr. S. L. Patterson, S.M., charged on two counts ■with carrying on business as a bookmaker and allowing the premises to be used as a common gaming house. The police produced records of betting transactions and other betting materials, and after hearing evidence the Magistrate convicted Gray on both charges, inflicting a fine of £15 in each case.
