OSLO, June 20,

The German liner Dresden grounded off Bokn Island, striking a rock. She was refloated without assistance and then went ashore voluntarily on.Karmoe Island. She soon developed a heavy list, water penetrating three holes in the ship's bottom and flooding the stokeroom.

The Dresden wirelessed Bergen that she was holed on the bottom and needed immediate assistance. Thousands of tourists landed safely, excepting a woman, who was drowned when a boat containing twenty women passengers overturned.

The Dresden is a twin-screw steamer of 14,690 tons, belonging to the Norddeutseher Lloyd, built in 1914 at Bremerhaven, ancl fitted with quadruple expansion engines. Bokn Island and Karrnoe Island are at the mouth of Bokn Fiord,-to the south of Bergen.
