ROAD CYCLING

CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS

My. A. Ai. Xattrass presided over last evening-a monthly meeting of the Wellington Amateur Cycling Centre. Also present were Messrs. H. Abel, M. Matson L. Logan, G. Winter, F. Kobinson, S! Webber, P. N. Robinson, and C. Ericsson (secretary).

Correspondence was received from the Canterbury and West Coast (N. 1.) Centres advising dates-of important events to be conducted under their jurisdiction. The '"1-lound the Gorges" event is set down for September 29. .

Mr. F. -Robinson, stated that the PortNicholson Shield was to be forwarded' almost immediately to the Mauawatu Centre, as domestic matters causing the delay had been finalised..

Upon several transfers being granted from athletic clubs to road-racing clubs, Mr. Nuttrass ruled that in future wlien a cyclist registers with a club he must remain a member of such club until the end of December of each year. With regard to representation on the centre^ the chairman explained that each delegate was now eligible to participate. During the past month registrations had been forwarded so freely that all present were now on side. It was decided that' bo transfers be gran ted after July 17. The sub-committee appointed to draw up rules for the "Hope-Gibbons Shield presented its report, and, being approved, the following dates were arranged:—July 21 at Kilbirnie, and September 1 at the Hutt.

Mr. Matson moved that the senior and junior provincial championships be held on the same date and under Olympic conditions. Upon the motion being defeated, it was resolved that the title events consist of 50-and 16%-mile handicaps, the date being September 15.

The chairman stated that up till the present OS licences had been issued to cj-clists under the centre's jurisdiction.

Mr. P. Ni Robinson was elected local oflicer to the" centre.

A sub-committee comprising Messrs. Malsoh, ""Webber, and O. Ericsson was appointed to deal with the provincial championships. ..
