TREMENDOUS DOWNPOUR

WHANGAKEI, This Day. A tremendous-downpour of rain fell all night, starting about 7 p.m. The gauge at 9 a.m. today showed 2.61 inches for 24 hours, which is move than the rainfall for tho whole of June last year, when it was 2.35 inches.
The main roads in the north are blocked and mail services are obstructed. ■<-'■-.
At Kaitaia 5.14. inches, fell in two days, 3.43 inches being registered during the past 24 hours.
