SCHOOL RUGBY
TOURNAMENT DEADLOCK

IXVEROARGILL, June IS. Reference to the deadlock regarding the South Island secondary schools Eugby tournament was made at a meeting of the Southland Rugby Union tonight by Mr 18. T. Meredith, who suggested that they get in touch with the Otago and Canterbury Unions and see if something could be done to get the tournament under way ! again. It was too valuable an event to | let slip into oblivion, he said. Mr. A. J. Geddes said'that the'question was a delicate one for the union Hie ■* schools had r always run the tournament themselves. He favoured the-aue limit that, had been suggested. It was a' debatable point whether terms students were actually sehool'pupils for the purpose of deciding eligibility.
