VICTIM OF GANG OF GUNMEN
NEW YORK, May 4. -Gangsters, terrorised two,seetions of Manhattan's East Side today' in gun battles witt police, in which o%e policeman was killed and two gravely injured. Three children, including a ten-Bionths-old baby, were painfully injured. '. :. Pour' gunnien, while ' making their escape after a store robbery, were questioned on suspicion by a policeman. warning all started shooting and killed him instantly, then insanely' continued firing, injuring children. Two ■ other, policemen were shot at without warning when ques^ tioning suspicious characters in another section. ! :. ' ' ._.-
So many officers have been victims' of such attacks that .the Mayor (Mr. La: Guardia) hag issued a:.blanket,order to the police to "shoW first-and shoot to kill.". ■'.-..;
