DOMINION'S POSITION
NO SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
The cablegram published on Saturday announcing tho British Government's decision to place a quota on Japanese goods in tho event of no agreement being reached between the two countries, stated that the Dominions were being informed of tho moves, but that it was understood that they were considering the matter independently."" '
Questioned today, the Primo Minister (the Bt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) said that so far as New Zealaud was concerned the necessity for giving special consideration to the question of trade with Japan did not arise at the moment, and tho Government did not have the matter before it.
Mr. Forbes added that any action which might be talren would arise out of tho report of tho Tariff Commission when the report comes beforo Parliament. He was unable to say what views were expressed by the- Commission.
