KRISHNAMURTI
ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND
DYNAMIC PERSONALITY
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) , : AUCKLAND, This Day. Jiddu Krishnaniurti, the young Indian philosopher, arrived by the, Wanganella today. Slight in stature, with a pleasing and dynamic personality, he impressed those who met him by his candour and great earnestness. ."I dd not come under the auspices of any organisation," he said when questioned. "I was invited by some friencls, and I came. If I am not.invited I stay where I am. I dig or do anything else required."
He explained that he had dissolved the order of the Star in the East because it was becoming too great an. organisation. "I saw that my own organisation was becoming the same as the others," he said. "I saw that a new religion was being proclaimed which would bo in the fight with all other religions striving for supremacy, so I disbanded it and as far as possible gave the property back to the donors. Organisations of this kind do not lead man to truth and to God. Every person has to find it out for himself." Each person must find out for himself, he said, what were his social and economic needs. To do that required intelligence, therefore a system of education which tended to make men slavish members of society needed alteration.
Krishnamurti said that he knew he had been referred to as th© Messiah, but he added that that term had been invented by newspapers. He did not desire any label.
Asked if his teachings were upsetting to orthodox Christians, ho replied: "I hope so." He would eliminate both nations and religions. How could there possibly be real human unity under a nationalistic system? How could a real Christian be nationalistic?
Krishnamurti will give public addresses and a series of oncn-air talks while in Auckland, and will leave early in April for California.
