OBJECTION TO CAMP

Of twenty C class velief workers at New Plymouth who weio notified to report for relief work at ITienui today, only one- reported; the remainder have been.stmck off the register.' The men were to have occupied a camp, but objected on the, ground chiefly that the wages. i\cie insufficient and that- separation from their families was '. tantamount to "moral divorce." It is calculated that the men.could have earned £3 a week for six weeks, and would' then -have .'had. to stand down Jior six'weeks. , ■■ By refusing the work the men have rendered themselves ineligible for aid from tho Hospital Board. They are calling a public protest meeting., -
