New Zealand's national, game has been taken up enthusiastically in Fiji and Samoa. The progress there is referred to in the annual report of the New Zealand Rugby Referees' Association, which states:—"lt is indeed gratifying to hear of the rapid strides being made by the Bugby game in • the Islands, and the latest communication from them shows that their referees realise the responsibility of their position as exponents of the laws of the game and are consequently desirous of being-kept up to date,with all the latest rulings and interpretations. Hand books have been forwarded to them and. the regular circulars and papers are. sent in order that their, desire to be up tq date should be gratified;". ' '
