Mr. Alan Monkhouse, speaking a.t Sheffield, denied the failure of the Soviets Five-Year Plan, which, he said, I had succeeded [industrially at least to the extent of 60 per cent, and less agriculturally. He denied that industrial activity was mainly devoted to muni-tion-making. Russia did nW want war, but feared; attack. If a real election were held in Russia, ho believed that everybody "under ■. twenty-nine-would vote , for Communism, but the elders would probably outvote them.
