The secretary. Pursefiller-Gold Mining Co., Coroniandel, received a ' wire' from the mine', last Wednesday tb the^ effect that another reef had' been cut in the eastern level. This js the second xeef that the contractors have cut within a distance of ■100 ft; 'The-reef just cut-may possibly be'the "Christmas" reef >which was a very rich producer in the early days of the Kuaptunn field. AUSTRALIAN PRICE OF GOLD. The price fixed by the Commonwealth Bank for gold, including jewellery, lodged at the Melbourne Mint, for the week ended March .16, was at the rate of. approximately £.7 t l4s sd : per standard ounce (22 carats),'equal to a premium of 98.33 per cent; Payment is made'according to the assay value of the gold. The price was 5d lower on the week. The price per ounce fine.WßS- £8 8s Bd, a fall of 5d on the week. ..-'., A FINE NUGGET. Mr. W. Pexton, of the Takati claim, Mongolata, South Australia, brought into Burra a nugget .of oxidised ore weighing 183 ounces. Authorities on the field estimate the gold content at: 120 to 135 ounces, or about, £1200 worth. The lode from which the nugget was obtained has been proved to a depth of 16ft, over a distance o£ 50ft by 3ft wide. ■ MOUNT ISA. The return of production of Mount Isa Mines, Ltd., during the week ended March 17 is as follows:—Ore mi11ed.'.'10,657 tons; silver-lead bullion • produced. '842 tons; bullion railed to Townsville, 81G tons. NEW COALMINE COMPANY. (By Telegraph) (Special to- the "Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, March 25. The interest in: the coalmine property at Waro,. opened by Wilson's . (N.Z.) Portland Cement, Limited, has been sold to a new private company, Waro Coal Mines, Limited. The Waro mine has been in possession of Wilson's Cement Co. for about twenty years. It was worked by the company itself until a few years ago, when it was leased in. succession to cooperative parties which experienced difficulty in dealing with the influx of water. The cement works will continue to draw their coal supplies from the new company. Parties interested" in Waro Coal Mines, Limited, are also interested in the new Hikurangi Coal.Co., Ltd., which recently acquired the property of the old Hikurangi Co. The mine properties are adjoining, and it is intended as far as possible to adopt uniform working.
