CHILLED BEEF
PROVIDING TONNAGE
Details have been made available by a number of shipping lines engaged in the Australia-United Kingdom trade of their programmes for the equipment of vessels for the carriage of chilled beef to Britain. A conference of graziers is presently to be held in Sydney to deal with development of the trade. . Shipping companies making full provision for the chilled beef trade are Commonwealth and Aberdeen, Blue Funnel, Commonwealth and Dominion, Blue Star, Ellerman and Bucknell Federal, Scottish Shire,. Shaw Savill and Albion Clan Line, P. and 0., and Orient. Discussing their companies' plans, shipping representatives in each case emphasised that arrangements so far made are designed to meet the probable space.needs of what. is termed'the 1934 experimental period, and that-further provision would be made as far as possible ahead of actual requirements .in order that the trade may be progressively developed as rapidly as production and meat-works and marketing arrangements permit: .
