ASSOCIATION'S LAWS
SEVERAL SUGGESTIONS
Of the remits dealt with at the recent conference of delegates, the most important appears to be that moved by the South Canterbury delegate in reference to the constitution of the association as applied to the annual general meeting and the election of the council. The mover, Mr. H. H. Praser, expressed the view that the swimming association should fall into line with other sporting bodies and that the annual meeting of delegates should be also the annual meeting of the association, and in addition to the business usually conducted at such meetings, the council of the association should be elected at the same time. His view was supported, and as a result, a special committee comprised of representatives from the Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago centres, together with the secretary of the council and Mr. Fraser, was set up to go into the question. Their findings will naturally .take some time before being announced, as the subeommitte can work only by correspondence, but the report will be of considerable interest when completed, and should ajouse considerable discussion during the off season. REMITS PASSED. Remits approved during conference were as follows:— That the fee for affiliation for clubs of less than thirty members be 10s Gd to the council. That all contests for the Kelierman Cup be held in still water. That the council endeavour to arrange a visit from Japanese swimmers during next season. That the senior championships be allocated to Auckland and the junior and, intermediate championships to South Canterbury. That an effort be made to secure slow motion films of overseas swimmers for use of centres. That the conference favours representation in swimming at the nest educational tours next season. Empire Games. That an effort be made to conduct That the conference does not approve of- again combining the senior, intermediate, and junior championships.
