SERVICES EULOGISED

RETIREMENT OF MR. B. KEAN

Tribuates to Mr. B. Kean, headmaster of the Miramar South. School, who is Tetiring, were.paid at a social gathering arranged by the "Wellington Headmasters' Association last evening. Representatives were present from the New Zealand, Educational Institute, the Assistant Masters' Association, the School Committees' Educational Federation, the Education Board, the inspectorate, and retired headmasters.

Mr. J.K.Edie, president of the association, presided and others who paid tribute to Mr. Kean's worth were Mr. T. Forsyth (chairman of the Education Board), Mr. D. Macaskill (chief inspector), Mr. F. H. Bakewell (exchicf inspector), Mr. J. Burns (Hutt Valley Headmasters' Association), Mr. F. Coombs, and Mr; C. F. Boekel. Songs were given by Messrs. AY. Binet-Brpwn and H. J. Kersey and recitations by Messrs. J. Webb and Clement Howe.

On Monday evening Mr. Kean will be the guest of honour at. a farewell to be given by the committee and parents of the Miramar South School. The chairman of the school committee, Mr. H.. J. Tomlinspn, ■will preside and the presentation of an engraved clock is to be made to Mr. Kean as a mark of appreciation of his outstanding work for the school. •
