For the second, year in succession an American woman owner won the Liverpool Grand National Steeplechase when Miss' Dorothy Paget's seven-year-old gelding Golden Miller came home at the head of today's field over the famous Aintree country. Another American owner, Mr. J. H. Whitney, filled third place with Thomond 11. The r Tesult of the race was:— GBAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE, a handicap sweepstakes'with £400.0 (including a trophy value £300). added; second £800, third £■500, and fourth £200; for six-year-olds-and upwards which, at the time of entry, have been placed first, second, or third in a 'chase of 3 miles or upwards value £.200 to the winner, or in a 'chase of any distance at Aintree) or have won any 'chase value £500 (or equivalent in foreign money) to the winner; Grand National course,- about 4 miles and 856 yards;. .. ■ ..-■ Miss Dorothy Paget's b g Golden Miller, by Goldcourt—Miller's Pride, by Wavelet's Pride, 7yrs, 12.2-(G.Wilson) ....... ... 1 J. Won by five lengths. ■ ;■ The race was a magnificent spectacle. Delaiieige was prominent throughout. He led to the first fence and was joined the second time round by Golden Miller and Forbra, with Thomond H just rjehin'cl them. • The quartet jumped the last eight fences together. Thomond II challenged^ but failed, to stay; and Forhra dropped back. Below the last fence Golden Miller staved off a great challenge from Delaneige. r
