COLLEGE OLD BOYS
The annual report of the Wellington College. Old Boys' Football Club, presented at' the annual meeting last night, showed that in all respects the! club had an excellent year. The committee was faced with many difficulties, but, with the wonderful help and co-operation of the members, coaches, and honorary members, their solution became quite simple. In fact, the whole club seemed to. be "one happy family," and of course- the result was success. "It is said, 'United we stand, divided we fall,' and in our case no truer maxim could apply," the report stated. In finishing in third place the club improved its position in the club championship. The senior A team fully bore out the expectations of last year, and won the championship in no uncertain manner, having a lead of five points over the next team. Praisre was .{riven to Messrs. A. McDonald and P. G. Thomson for their service to the team. Of prospects the report stated:—"Although we had quite a successful year there is no reason why we should rest on our laurels next year. It is hoped by the committee that the knowledge gained this year will help us to improve our standard of play; that we may be able to place more teams in the field; and that in so doing we will enlarge our circle of friendship, which after all is the spirit of the game. We therefore look forward keenly to the 1934 season." The balance-sheet shows the club to be in a sound position financially.
