Returns issued by the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia show that sales of wool in the principal marketing centres of the Commonwealth from July 1 to February 28 totalled 2,183,623 bales, which realised £44.779,592. Compared with the similar period of 1932-33, the quantity sold displays an increase of 83,344 bales, and the amount realised an increase of £20,749,790. The greasy and scoured wool sold made an average of £20 10s 2d per bale, or 16.42 d per lb, the average a year before being £11 8s lOd per bale, or S.B7d per lb. During February the greasy wool sold averaged 18.70 d per lb, compared with B.Bd in February, 1933. The quantity of wool sold and the amount realised for the eight months ended February is shown below:—
At the close of February, 1933, 617,342 bales of the season's clip were in store awaiting sale, but at the same date this year the quantity of unsold wool on hand was £239,915 bales.
