SOUTHERN CROSS LEAVES

Piloted by Sir Charles Eingsford Smith and carrying a number of passengers, including Lady Kingsford Smith, the monoplane Southern Cross left the Rongotai Aerodrome at 12.5 "p.m. today for Ikamatua, on the West Coast of the South Island. Sir Charles intends to spend tomorrow at Westport, but because of the necessity of landing on the beach there, he "will proceed to Christchureh before nightfall. On Friday the Southern Cross will make a long trip from Christchurch. to Invercargill over the Southern Alps and Milford Sound, and will carry a number of Press and amateur photographers.
