OLD MAN'S EVENING SWIM

A drowning tragedy occurred at Lowry Bay last evening, the victim being Mr. Theodore Anderson, a bootmaker, aged 72 years, who resides at 9a Boston Terrace, Wellington. Mr. Anderson went for a swim- about 9.10 p.m., and a few minutes after he had entered the water his son, who had remained on the shore, missed him. Ho called out several times, and on receiving no answer went back for lights and helpers. A fishing boat was also used in the search. Mr. Anderson was found floating face downwards in about 18in of water near the rocks opposite the Lbwry Bay bathing sheds. The sea was calm. Dr. Donald was called, but Mr. Anderson was dencl. The late Hi-. Anderson is survived by a ivife and grown-up family.
